NOLLYWOOD ACTOR, JIM IYKE, ARRESTED FOR SLAPPING DANA AIR EMPLOYEE

Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, was on Monday afternoon arrested at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, for slapping an employee of Dana Air. It was gathered that the actor arrived late for his 12:15 pm Abuja flight and the airline’s security personnel tried to help him to meet up with the flight by searching him. According to eyewitnesses, Iyke refused to be searched and pushed the man away, but the man insisted that he must be searched before boarding.

The man’s insistence was said to have angered Iyke, who slapped the man for ‘wasting his time.’ Iyke was later arrested by officers from the Airport Police Command. Dana Air’s Media and Communications Manager, Kingsley Ezenwa, who confirmed the incident, said Iyke was, however, released, after he had apologised to the airline employee.

Ezenwa added that the actor eventually missed the flight when the incident happened. The Public Relations Officer, Airport Command, Alabi Joseph, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, also confirmed the incident, saying that Iyke was released after he tendered an apology.

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH TO PUT UP £2B CHELSEA FOR SALE

Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly making preparations to put the club up for sale. According to the Sunday Times, the 51-year-old business man has hired New York bank Raine Group to lay the groundwork for the sale of the club.

The firm is believed to have valued Chelsea at £2 billion. Meanwhile, the Stamford Bridge outfit has already started seeking the counsel of the club’s advisors who, back in 2015, assisted Manchester City to trade a 13 per cent stake in the club to China Media Capital.Nonetheless, what currently remains anonymous is whether Abramovich will sell the club outright to new owners or is only interested in selling a stake in it. Having acquired the London club for £140 million in 2003, the Russian has overseen his investment multiply over the years with the team enjoying great success in both the domestic and European front.Since 2004, Chelsea has notably won five English Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League trophy as well as the Europa League. With the club ushering into a new era under Maurizio Sarri, the stance taken by the club owner is subtly perceived as odd although it does not come as a surprise.

Back in May, Abramovich vetoed a £500 million expansion of the Stamford Bridge after he was faced with difficulties in renewing his UK visa. This came as a result of the sanctions placed on Russia by the United Kingdom in connection to the Salisbury poisoning where a former Russian military officer and double agent for the UK’s intelligence services and his daughter almost lost their lives.

TENNIS STAR SERENA WILLIAMS BANNED FROM WEARING THIS CATSUIT AT FRENCH OPEN (Photo)

Tennis champ, Serena Williams has been banned from wearing her “Blank Panther” inspired catsuit at the French Open in future.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion turned heads when she made her return to Grand Slam tennis this year wearing the eye-catching outfit at Roland Garros, following the birth of her first child in 2017.

At that time she said she felt like a “superhero” after wearing the catsuit during her 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 win over Kristyna Pliskova in May.

But in a new interview, the president of the French Tennis Association’s president Bernard Giudicelli told Tennis Magazine that the tournament will now have a dress code because he believes “sometimes we’ve gone too far.” He singled out Williams’ bodysuit, explaining that it “will no longer be accepted,” according to the Associated Press.

“One must respect the game and the place,” Giudicelli said, adding that while the French Open will “impose certain limits,” its rules won’t be as strict as Wimbledon’s where players must wear all white.

Man Utd Must Beat Tottenham To Remain In Tittle Race – Fred

Manchester United midfielder, Fred believes they must beat Tottenham if they are to remain in the race for the title.

The Red Devils played an unconvincing 2-1 win over Leicester in their season opener, before losing 3-2 to Brighton.

Manchester United face Tottenham on Monday and Fred believes it is a crucial encounter.

“It’s a very important game. This week we’ve been working, focusing on this game, we want to go out and get the win in front of our home fans,” Fred told Sky Sports .

“We know Tottenham are a great team, but we need to get the win if we are to aspire to win the league.

“The Premier League is a great league and there are a lot of great teams and Brighton were better than Man United.

“They got early goals which we didn’t manage to achieve. We improved but unfortunately this wasn’t enough for a win or a draw.

“Going into the next game, we want to be focused and we want to win, so we can stay in the race for the title.”

JUST IN: YINKA AYEFELE RECONCILES WITH GOVERNOR AJIMOBI (Photos)

Few days ago, social media was set agog after a radio station/music house belonging to Yinka Ayefele, was demolished by Governor Ajimobi. The Oyo State Governor suffered severe backlash, as residents of Oyo went all out to lay curses on him.

However in a new report, it was gathered that Governor Ajimobi described Yinka Ayefele as a good man and a responsible citizen, stressing that the next step was to find a compassionate means of resolving the issue.

The Oyo State Governor has also set up the committee, at a reconciliatory meeting with the popular musician in his office on Thursday in Ibadan. Governor Ajimobi however stated that the demolition exercise was neither a witch-hunt nor politically motivated, insisting it was due to contravention of the state’s property laws.

At the meeting which was facilitated by a top governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Joseph Tegbe, the Oyo State Governor urged Ayefele to ensure that his radio station embraced ethical reportage of the issue.

Governor also directed that a new building accommodating the additional parts of the building be approved for Ayefele immediately. It is expected that the ace gospel singer’s architect will liaise with officials in the department of physical planning to work out the modalities and the approval, while the fence of the building would be moved back a few metres.

Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who was at the Governor’s Office alongside some monarchs, also pleaded with the governor to resolve the impasse. Governor Ajimobi also expressed willingness to ensure financial compensation to Ayefele, with the terms of the recompense to be discussed at a later meeting between the governor and the proprietor of the station.

On his own part, Yinka Ayefele stated that his office responded to all letters forwarded to it by the state government. He however expressed regrets at not being able to see the governor, adding that the emissaries he sent failed to deliver his messages. According to him, he remains a law-abiding citizen who is ready to comply with the regulations of the state government.
